The management team at CMI traveled to the Governor's Mansion in Little Rock, AR today to accept the Governor's Award for Excellence in Global Trade presented by Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe. Vice President of Sales Rachael Cox accepted the award and gave a short acceptance speech in which she thanked the Governor along with several State and Federal agencies including the Arkansas World Trade Center, the Small Business Administration, Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions and the U.S. Commercial Service for their work in assisting Conway's growth in exports.
When faced with tough economic times during the Great Recession, Conway Machine doubled down and invested in their sales and marketing efforts, especially internationally. Over the past few years, Conway Machine created new marketing materials in several different languages, increased its international web presence and exhibited at the largest trade show in the Print/Packaging Industry, DRUPA, held in Dusseldorf, Germany every four years.
The hard work paid off! Conway Machine has grown its international sales by 19%, with 2012 being the best sales year in over a decade.
Conway Machine, Inc. recently returned from exhibiting at the Odyssey Expo in Nashville, TN. The Expo is sponsored by IADD-FSEA, of whom Conway is a proud member. The Expo is a great chance to learn more about die cutting and the industry as a whole. There are learning sessions, product demonstrations, and an awards banquet to top it all off.
We enjoyed visiting with current customers and old friends (fellow exhibitors) and are happy to report we made lots of new friends too!

Last month, Nicky Havens celebrated 30 years of working at Conway Machine, Inc. We greatly appreciate all of his hard work through the years and look forward to many more to come!
Here's a write-up in the local newspaper: http://thecabin.net/news/business/2012-12-01/nicky-havens-recognized-30-years-service#.UMeRKoNTySo
We grilled hamburgers, and employees brought side dishes. Everyone's favorite is Nicky's wife's potato salad. It goes fast, and there is never any leftover for the night shift!
We also held our monthly drawing for the scratch-off tickets and cash prize. We were happy to announce that Brett was the winner! Unfortunately he didn't hit the jackpot on the scratch-offs. Maybe next time!
